Since 2001, this festival, organized by Nepal River Conservation Trust, has created platform for change, gradually building the pressure that can only come from a heightened sense of awareness and concern. Over the years, hunderds of organizations and thousands of individuals have come forward to join hands at this common platform with action oriented clean-ups, awareness building campains and participation in action sports.

The festival of a 21st century….. It’s the need of our generation.

  1. BRF- is the festival of a 21st century, our generations’ festival and more relevant to our time- it’s a festival of all religions, people of all ages and gender, poor and rich not only that a festival which pomotes conservation, culture and communities and encourages all to unite and live in harmony. We also feel that it is only possible by addressing the issue environmentally, socially, culturally, religiously, politically and economically. We just adopted the new ritual of our new festival in order to help revive the Bagmati civilization for our future generations i.e. plantation, clean up campaign, bird watching, environmental and social workshops, addresses the present crises of the planet climate change and global warming by action, the festival also thrives the art, music, literatures, heritage walk and water sports, a massive awareness campaign through massive people’s participation.

  2. BRF provides the platform for the organizations to display their good work on Bagmati conservation and its tributaries. That means there will be more co-operation, trust and confidence will be built between the organizations, communities and people. It is also a platform for people from all walks of life where they can show their concerns, a platform to raise the public voice against those organizations milking on the name of Bagmati, a watch dog to protect public interest.

  3. The festival to bring people close to the river to have a conversation with the river and understand the problem. When we understand it, we care about it, then we love it, then only possible to conserve it.

This festival is relevent to cure the Bagmati at present, after 50 years it will be even more relevant for prevention of our civilization. We all must celebrate our rives, roots of our civilization. ” Our Sagarmatha- Our Pride, Our Bagmati- Our Prestige”.

let’s unite for Bagmati and join “Save Bagmati Movement”.

See you downstream…
