My Lifetime Experience at Kubhinde Daha

Even today that melodious rhythmic sound touches the inner core of my memories when an international visitor whistled in my ear, “Sweetie your country is a living heaven on the earth. When you aspire a heaven, it appears to be a myth but once someone visits your country, myth turns into reality”. It was the time when my preferences were not travel and tourism. Now, those phrases add a sense of glory and pride in my life. That was my first encounter of the praises offered to my country from others’ eyes.

Today when I have involved myself in this sector the garlands of praises offered to my country even beautifies my inner soul. Though I am writing my emotions for my own satisfaction, there is no need of highlighting naturalness, profoundness and magnificent beauty offered to my country by existence. Changing landscapes from Terai to Himalayan region with their own unique features, enriched bio-diversities in terms of language, culture, religion, caste and ethnicity, wilderness of natural beauty, sensational and healing natural and spiritual aura and heart-touching hospitality and many more unexplored features of my country contributes in creating overwhelming experiences to the visitors which creates unforgettable masterpiece in the canvas of their memories. And give them lifetime experiences. Such lifetime experiences are generated every time when people happen to visit various tourism dimensions of my country including nature, culture, religion and people.

Here I would like to narrate the story of my first lifetime experience which was offered to me during my visit to the place called Kubhinde daha of Salyan district in western part of Nepal. Kubhinde Daha is considered to be the greatest lake of Province 5 covering an area of 23. 53 hectares of land. The dimensions of the lake vary from 834 m, 538 m to 34 m. The destination is located about 24 km west from Khalanga of Salyan and about 11 km away in eastern direction from a place called Baluwa Sangrahi. In order to reach the destination one has to reach Chhinchu Bazaar of Surkhet at first. After about three hours’ drive from Chhinchu Bazaar, one reaches the place called Baluwa Sangrahi and after about half an hour’s drive from Baluwa Sangrahi one finally reaches the destination.

After about three and half hours’ drive from Chhinchu Bazaar of Surkhet towards the Jajarkot Road, when I reached my desired destination, my overwhelming ecstasy started manifesting from my facial expressions because of incomparable natural beauty of the pound. My wide-opened eyes continuously gazed at the crystal-clear water which reminded me of the purity of human soul. The dense forest surrounding the lake almost healed my unspoken wounds with a complete silence but yet with a mild chattering sound in my ears which were also as melodious as my favorite music. The unexplained beauty almost conquered my heart and I fell in love with the place. My excitement during the time was something like the first crush of my life. My first crush was one- sided, so it was quite unpleasant but thanks to god this time my crush is bilateral and the nature was also equally welcoming and teasing in a perfect balance without letting anyone know about our silent and unspoken affair.

I felt unseen touches of nature as existential glory of human life resulting in a perfect relaxation of my mental anxieties. I felt the romance of the moment as would the lead character in any classic love story. I touched the crystal clear water and washed my face. The cool kiss of water was almost like the adorable kiss of my beloved mother which is the most powerful healing factor of my life. The coldness of water and its purity washed off all the tiredness of my journey.

I closed my eyes for some minutes to realize the inner being of myself. I found myself dissolving with persisting silence around there. As it is said that even silence has an unheard sound, the destination was also playing silent music of peace and calmness. Apart from this there was the temple of Kailu Baraha about 100 m away towards the north of the lake. It is said that the visit and offer of prayers at this temple brings fulfillment in desires and aspirations for the visitors. This temple is specially visited by couples who are not being able to give birth to a child. It is said that new couple is blessed with a child after a visit to this temple. The destination witnesses a large number of people during Magh Sukla Purnima and Baisakh Sukla Purnima.

When we aspire for some natural destination, we only emphasize and are aware of Phewa Lake in Pokhara. This may be because of the easy accessibility, infrastructure and accommodation facilities available. But there are so many naturally reached beautiful such lakes all over Nepal, which are desperately waiting to welcome guests in large number with proper promotional strategies. But at the same time we should be equally aware of the fact of preserving pristine attributes of that destination as well. So there is need of diversifying visitors among all the destinations of Nepal. Centralization of visitors within a particular destination may not ensure long-term future of any destination.
