12th Chitwan Elephant Festival in Sauraha

The 12th edition of Chitwan Elephant Festival is going to be held in Chitwan National Park, Sauraha from December 26- 30.

The festival hopes to promote tourism and wildlife conservation by creating awareness about the importance of protection and preservation of wildlife. The organizers also hope to encourage more tourists to visit Chitwan and retain visiting tourists in Sauraha through the Christmas and New Year period.

Regional Hotel Association of Nepal is behind the Chitwan Elephant Festival that has seen enormous popularity since its inception in 2004. Participating hotels and resorts offer discounts and deals throughout the festival period to attract as many visitors as possible. Event highlights in previous years have included elephant race, elephant beauty contests, elephant football etc.
