1,890 Climbing Permits issued this autumn

Nepal Now, latest news updates
Altogether, 1,890 climbers received climbing permits this season with 831 permits being issued by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and 1,059 issued by the Department of Tourism (DoT).
The numbers have dropped by 23.5 percent compared to last year’s figures i.e. 1385 climbing permits in the same period.
To counter the falling numbers and help the revival of the tourism industry in Nepal, DoT has proposed to extend the validity of climbing permits issued in the spring this year as many climbers had returned home without attempting to climb the peaks following the quake.
It is hoped that, if approved by the government, the proposed scheme will help bring back more mountaineers to Nepal and spread the positive message that Nepal is open for business.
