ATTA President Mr. Shannon Stowell in town for Adventure Week Rebound on the Great Himalaya Trails

October 23 2015 | The president of Adventure Travel Trade Association(ATTA), Mr.Shannon Stowell is in Nepal to lead a troop of journalists and tour operators to Nepal. He is here for the Adventure Week Rebound on the great Himalaya Trails which takes place October 24, 15 – November 1,15. ATTA came up with this totally new concept of Adventure Week after the April earthquake in Nepal. The main purpose behind this concept is to raise awareness among adventure travelers about the destinations.

The itineraries that were developed by the AdventureWeek Rebound Nepal are:

The Everest itinerary starts off at Lukla and covers trekking through Sagarmatha National Park, Namche, Tangsiha, and a helicopter ride to Everest Base Camp.
The Annapurna/Chitwan itinerary includes a panoramic flight to Everest, hiking near Jomsom, a wildlife safari in search of rhino, hippo, monkeys and Royal Bengal Tiger in Royal Chitwan National Park plus several adventure activities for instance, biking, paraglding and boating in Pokhara.
Both itinerary includes exploring around the Kathmandu Valley.

Stowell will join a group of total 20 participants in Nepal with an objective of spreading positive global media attention and storytelling around the various adventure travel opportunities in Nepal. “AdventureWeek Rebound Nepal started as a way for ATTA to help Nepal rebuild for the long term and has become a community effort bringing together various partners on the ground and within the tourism industry,” said Stowell. “Hundreds of volunteer hours have been spent by the ATTA team; we hope that the impact will be felt around the globe when we declare ‘Nepal is open”, said ATTA.

Considering travelers certainty in the safety of the destination, ATTA is providing one day Adventure EDU Course for local tour operators on safety and risk management by Gordon Janow. Funding is being assisted by Tourism Cares, with help from Great Himalaya Trails. The program will also provide an opportunity for the media, Tour operators and Nepali Operators to connect with one another on Adventure ConnectNetworking Event which will be held in Kathmandu. The main motive is to come up with ideas, strategies and methods to boost Nepal’s tourism.
