Everest brothers appeal to Irish climbers to return to Nepal

Mingma Tsiri Sherpa and Pasang Tenzing Sherpa, two of the most accomplished Sherpas working in Everest, are in Ireland to promote the message that Nepal is open for climbing and to share their mountaineering stories.
The two brothers belong to a famous Sherpa family of seven brothers who are known as the ‘Everest Family’ for having set a world record by climbing Mt. Everest 54 times between them. They are believed widely to be among the world’s greatest extreme climbers whose feats have largely gone unsung due to the shadow cast by the big international companies.
Speaking to the Sunday Independent, they expressed their desire to nullify the assumption that Nepal is unsafe post the quake for climbing. They claimed that climbers were most welcome to return to Nepal and to climb with them.
Mingma and Pasang will spend the next three weeks giving talks in Dublin, Sligo, Galway, Cork and Kerry. Their main agenda during the trip will be to appeal to Irish climbers to visit Nepal.
“The Irish are very strong climbers, we enjoy climbing with them,” said Mingma.
