French tour operators in Nepal for a fam trip

A team of French tour operators were in Nepal for a familiarization trip to gather updates on the post-quake tourism scene. They were present at Nepal Tourism Board on the 27th of January for a farewell ceremony presided over by the CEO of NTB, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi.

The team led by the Director of TUI France, Caperan Philippe visited Pokhara, Bardia, Bandipur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu during their short stay in Nepal.

Addressing the group in his welcome speech, Joshi requested that they serve as goodwill ambassadors to quell the perception of Nepal being unsafe post-quake and emphasized that the best way travellers could help Nepal recover, was by visiting.

“Nepal is physically challenging but emotionally rewarding,” he further added.

Some of the best travel agencies in France were represented by the group of 15; for most of them, it was their first visit to Nepal. The participants expressed their delight that contrary to the perception that Nepal was completely devastated post-quake and unsafe for travel, they had seen very little damage from earthquake in the tourist spots they visited.

Philippe admitted that it was important to come to Nepal and experience first-hand how the country had rebounded post the quake. The group confirmed that they had a great time during their stay in Nepal and wanted to see Nepal being promoted as a cultural destination on top of the current push towards trekking.

The fam trip was organized by the joint efforts of Malla Travels and NATTA.
