Ghalegaun receives 3,094 tourists in the last 7 months

Ghalegaun, a popular tourist destination in Lamjung district received 3,094 tourists including 394 foreigners in the first seven months of the fiscal year 2015-16.
According to the Ghalegaun Tourism Management Committee, about 23,000 visitors including 1,000 foreigners would visit the destination every year prior to the earthquake. Most of the visitors recorded in the past year post-quake visited Ghalegaun between November and January.
Ghaleguan is located two hours drive away from Besisahar, district headquarters of Lamjung and stands at an elevation of 2100 m. Tourist attractions include panorama of Mansalu, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna and Himalchuli mountains, Khonjekrama Lake, Gorkha Park and Gurung culture.
Home stay facilities in Ghalegaun started 17 years ago with only 13 households. Today, 35 households provide such facilities for visitors. The village has since celebrated 16 annual festivals to promote Gurung culture and home stay tourism.
