They say precaution is always better than cure. Wouldn’t you love your phone giving you alert about the possible danger ahead ? Especially when you are trekking, everything is uncertain. You never know what lies ahead on the trekking trail. Honeyguide is a complete tour guide app that not only provides you with minute details like the kind of paintings available inside a monastery located in that particular area but also warns you about the possible danger ahead.

We researched for about two years before finally launching the app. We wanted to provide a complete tour package for tourists, which not just provided logistics and maps, but offered as many details as possible such as the variety of flora and fauna in that area,” says Abhishek Pande, who together with his friend Ashish Shrestha, founded HoneyGuide Apps. HoneyGuide App was officially released on October 2, 2015 and will be available on google play store for free until March, 2016.

The app comes in a bundle of three apps , namely, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Ghorepani-Poon Hill Trek, which one has to download separately. Separate apps have been developed for each area so that more detailed information about the route can be incorporated. The intention was to provide more detail about a particular place.

The app also notifies you about the ATM booth and lodges in a particular area and whether the lodges have wifi or not. Visa fees and contacts of embassies are available, too. And what’s more, all these information are accessible offline. This app is concerned about your safety too. If you take even 20m towards the wrong track, it will notify you.

“It is high time for Nepal to digitize its tourism packages. With the world advancing as each day passes by, we don’t want Nepal to lag behind in any aspect.”, says Abhishek Pande.
