If golden Everest was the highlight of the Nepal counter at the International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM 2016) fair in Tel Aviv, Israel, adventure and cultural experiences were other features that were in focus.
Participants of IMTM held between February 9-10, at the TLV Convention Center said that what mattered most, were the human experiences encountered during natural feats. And Nepal, promises one.
One Day 2 of the fair, the Nepalese delegation organized a press conference for media and tour operators in attendance. The program was addressed by Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation Mr. Ananda Prasad Pokharel. HE Ambassador of Nepal to Israel Mr. Prahlad Kumar Prasai and NTB Executive Committee Member Mr. Rajendra Prasad Sapkota were also present at the program.
The event was instrumental in reaching out to the local media and tour operators with Nepal’s tourism message encouraging travel and sale of Nepal as a safe and exotic destination.
Additionally, exchange of gifts and ideas between the Nepali delegation and Zahal Disabled Veterans Organization (ZDVO) brought to light the high esteem the Israeli people have for Nepal and Nepali people.
ZDVO led by Ms. Vered Roth, has planned a trip of about 60 war-wounded soldiers to Nepal in March 2016. The team plans to visit Langtang region, most affected by the April 2015 earthquake.
The fair also provided an opportunity to study the Israeli market and gain insight into the Israeli traveler’s mind. With almost all Israelis looking forward to the traditional “after the army” travel, Nepal could be promoted as a choice destination for the high-end young, dreamy and dauntless Israeli crowd.
At present 6-10 thousand Israelis travel to Nepal annually. This number could be increased two-three times with fresh promotion, branding and finding the right target group.
