Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi has been appointed as the new CEO of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on thursday, dec 17, 2015. The post was lying vacant for the last 4 years. Mr. Joshi will now lead the Tourism Board for the next 4 years.
A meeting of board of directors of NTB today selected Joshi as the new Chief Executive Officer of Nepal Tourism Board. A selection committee had recommended the names of Joshi, Gyanendra Ratna Tuladhar and Gyaneswor Lal Mahato for the post on the basis of their presentation and interview held on Sunday and Monday.
According to Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, the chairman of NTB, Joshi was selected based on the recommendations of the selection commitee. He stood out among 12 other candidates by scoring 69.5 marks. Besides these three candidates, Hari Sarmah, Bishnu GC, Narayan Krishna Pradhan, Raghu Bista, Bhumi Lama and Lok Bahadur Khatri had appeared for the interview. However, three shortlisted candidates — Subash Nirola, Hum Gurung and Shiva Saran Thapa – hadn’t responded to NTB’s invitation for interview.
The selection committee was led by NTB Board Member Ghanendra Shrestha. Other members of the committee were Ghanashyam Upadhyaya, joint secretary of tourism ministry, NTB Board Member Rajendra Sapkota and two experts — one each from the government and the private sector.
