Paragliding World Cup takes off in Pokhara

2016 Nepali Pre World Cup-Pokhara, an international paragliding competition, has begun in the city of Pokhara, Nepal. One of the four scheduled events under ‘PWCA Class 1 – Pre World Cup Tour’, the competition will see 150 pilots from 26 countries participating in the eight day event.
On the first day of the competition on February 27, participants took off from Sarangkot, the take-off point for commercial tandem flights in Pokhara, and landed in the banks of Phewa Lake.
Organized by Nepal Air Sports Association (NAA), the competition is divided into five distinct categories, including a category for Nepali pilots.
Winners from the Open category will be awarded Rs 50 thousand, Rs 40 thousand and Rs 30 thousand for first, second and third position respectively. Similarly, winners from the Female Category will be given Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 each, while winners from the Nepali Category will be awarded Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
The event is supported by Nepal Tourism Board.
