Project ICE: Medical students from Imperial College will work in remote healthposts of Nepal

First-year medical students of Imperial College London (ICL) will be working in community healthcare in remote health posts of Nepal this autumn, reports Imperial’s news site.
The project titled ‘Imperial College Enables’ (ICE) is a collaboration between Imperial’s undergraduate medical school, the medical students’ union and Community Action Nepal, a UK based charity founded by Doug Scott CBE.
About 30 medical students will travel to Nepal for three weeks in September and work with the nurses of Community Action Nepal in remote health posts. Apart from healthcare, students will also have the opportunity to teach English to Nepali students and work with pupils of Bahrabise School for the hearing impaired.
The team will be divided into groups of eight or ten with specific roles and responsibilities assigned to each member within the group i.e. first aid, communication officer, education officer, treasurer etc.
They will spend a few days in Kathmandu from where they will travel in small groups, mostly on foot between the health posts.
