Winner of online Holi photograph contest Mr. Pritam Bahadur Shakya, 25, stopped by NTB on April 11, 2016, to collect his prize from the CEO of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi. The prize he won was “A night’s getaway at a luxury resort for couple”.
At the program, CEO Mr. Joshi, congratulated Mr. Shakya and encouraged him to share pictures of Nepal through social media with tourism hashtags for more visibility of Nepal as an exotic holiday destination. “You are a part of our team now,” Mr. Joshi said.
Mr. Shakya, who is a graphic designer by profession, is an all rounder creative guy. With photography as a hobby, approaching Holi festival, information about the campaign, and a Holi family gathering, everything seemed to fall together in place for him to use his creative talent and experiment on Holi portraits with cousins.
“It was my first Holi photography. I wanted to work with the colors, capture the splash and the Holi emotions,” said Mr. Shakya. He immediately shared the pictures he was content with on Instagram with hashtags #NepalNOW and #Holi .
Mr. Shakya said he was shocked and happy when he was told that he had won the online Holi photo contest. He said that it was through Facebook advertisement that he had learnt of the photo contest, announced earlier on March 18 via NepalNOW.
He appreciated the effort of NepalNOW and Nepal Tourism Board in using online campaigns to promote Nepali culture and said such initiation would provide opportunities for the younger generation to focus their energy on productive exercises and raise awareness about one’s legacy and heritage among youth. Tourism promotion would certainly get a boost too, he said.
The prize was sponsored by Nepal Tourism Board with special rate given by Gokarna Forest Resort.
