‘World’s Highest Live Concert’ successfully held at Mera Peak

Inshu Rai successfully set the world record for ‘World’s Highest Live Solo Concert’ by performing at the summit of Mera Peak (6471 m) on November 11, 2015.
Rai is a singer, musician and mountain guide, who first attempted the feat on October 29, 2015. During her first attempt, the team of 16 could not make it further than the Mera Peak Base Camp (5800 m) due to a heavy snowstorm. Her team, comprising of VJ Lhakpa Sherpa, DJ Chewang Sherpa and Journalist Suraj Rai, then held a musical concert and DJ session at the Base Camp before turning back.
Rai along with mountain guide, Pasang Dawa Sherpa’s team of 11 successfully made the summit of Mera Peak on November 11, 2015. Rai performed 8 folk songs at the summit in -25 degrees conditions to set the Guinness Book of World Records, for the ‘World’s Highest Live Solo Concert’.
The expedition was undertaken under the slogan “Nepal is Safe for Tourism”.
