77 year old treks Annapurna to raise money for Alzheimers Australia

Rosalie Hudson, a 77 year old Nurse educator from Australia, was in Nepal to complete a 115 km eight day Annapurna trek to raise money for Alzheimers Australia reports Herald Sun, an Australian morning daily.

“I felt I could have reached up and touched the stars,” she said speaking of the moment she saw the breathtaking peak of Mt. Annapurna in the full moon at 2 am in the morning.

Describing the tough trail and steep descents as challenging for even the two fit 30 year olds in her group, she said that the she found the trek to be a lot harder than expected despite undertaking a rigorous training regimen to cope with the high altitude.

“But the views were just spectacular- especially when we’d climbed to 3900 m,” Hudson further added.

Ms Hudson is still working as a nurse educator with a specialization in dementia care and is 17 years older than the next oldest member in the team of six trekkers who have so far managed to raise $16,000 for Alzheimers Australia.
