I have always had an extremely special bond with Bhaktapur partly because it is my hometown. Being born and raised here, every nook and corner of this place holds a special memory in my heart. Strolling around the Durbar square area with my friends to intensely jogging in Siddhapokhari, those memories will linger forever in my heart.

When the earthquake rattled Nepal on April 25,2015, my hometown Bhaktapur was one of the worst hit district. The aftermath of the quake led to numerous people losing their lives, many households being collapsed and, was a complete turnover for every Nepali. Even my life took a drastic turn and the house where I had spent more than 20 years of my life was no longer considered safe for living. Nevertheless, life had to move on.

I went back to my hometown today almost after 3-4 months. I had an amazing day rambling around the streets of Bhaktapur and it brought back all sorts of feels. Reliving the golden times was certainly an ideal choice to get a perfect getaway from my hectic work life. Things are eventually settling down and life has gotten back to normal. The Bhaktapur I knew was full of curious tourists and positive vibes. Though earthquake had taken away the liveliness of this place, I felt so glad to learn that things are not the same anymore. I could see good number of tourists strolling around Bhaktapur with the same curiosity and happiness. Though the pace of recovery is comparatively slow, but I am glad that the initiatives and efforts are finally showing good and fruitful results.

Natural disasters are imminent and it is beyond our control. Pulling yourself back from the rubble and getting back stronger defines you. We should never lose faith on the hope that ignites the will to fight back.Things can never get back to how it used to be because it will always get better with each passing day.
