Back to Nepal: Mustang Diaries

Anthony Nicolazzi, editor in chief of Trek Magazine, documented Kathmandu and Mustang one month after the earthquake and discovered life in Nepal has regained its rhythm.

After much thought, their team led by French guide Paulo Grobel decided to honor their previous commitment to the local teams and continue their journey to Mustang in North-West Nepal, a region that was largely spared by the quake. The video captures the incredible before and after shots of popular heritage sites in Kathmandu and their journey into the incredible valley of Mustang.

Mustang like three-quarters of the country, as depicted in the video, is almost intact but local tourism professionals have not had any work post quake. Trekking professionals do not expect the industry to regain momentum before fall next year, even though routes such as Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, Gosainkunda are perfectly operational.
