Daman is a unique isolated village that lies in the heart of Nepal, 80 kilometers south west of the Kathmandu valley at an altitude of about 2,400m. It lies in the Tribhuvan highway in between Kathmandu and the town of Birgunj. The place is surrounded with scenic mountain views that everyone will surely love to see. The Mountain Botanical Gardens comprise over 78 hectares of forest. February to March is the best time to visit, when the rhododendrons (the national flower of Nepal) are in bloom. Daman boasts what is arguably the most spectacular outlook on the Himalaya in the whole of Nepal. Apart from its scenic beauty, Daman is also very famous for its religious importance.

To reach Daman one can hire a private four wheeler or chose public transports which is available from Kalanki, it is a four hour long ride from Kathmandu and has well maintained roads. Also, Adventure lovers can hike their way from Pharping to Damn.

From Naubise the uphill roads begin and you will see winded up roads that lead you to Daman. On Reaching Daman the peaceful feeling and the chilled Breeze will welcome you to a spectacular view of the entire range of Mountains from Dhaulagiri to Mt Everest.

Another attraction in Daman is the Tibetan Buddhist monastery that is approximately a thirty-minute leisurely walk away from the village. The Indra Sarobor and Rishikeshwor Mahadev Temple are also extremely interesting sights to visit. Most of the attractions and sights can only be reached on foot, and visitors are recommended to pack comfortable walking shoes, on their visit to Daman.

The cultural lifestyle that is practiced by villagers, the panoramic views and the diverse natural wildlife that is located here offers a truly amazing adventure to embark on. Here, visitors will find the seclusion, tranquility and quiet that is so hard to find in many tourist destinations in Nepal.
