Ghorepani Ghandruk Sees Increment in the Number of Tourists

The inflow of tourists in the Ghorepani Ghandruk area has increased by 31 % in the year 2016. According to data with the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the figure is put at 47,247 in 2016 while it was approximately 36,000 in 2015.

Ananda Subedi, administration assistant at the ACAP Office, said the areas where the number of tourists visited include Ghodepani, Ghandruk, Annapurna Base Camp and Khopra area, the main tourist destinations.

Although the initial period following the earthquake of April 25, 2015 saw a slight fall in the number of tourists visiting the areas, the recent period was encouraging, said Bidur Kuikel, chief of the ACAP, Ghandruk.

Ghorepani Ghandruk trekking route is famous for art, culture, lifestyle of Magar and Gurung settlements. Besides, one can view panorama around the areas and scenes of various mountains and sunrise from the site.

Each citizen of SAARC countries is charged Rs 200 to visit ACAP while the entry fee for people from other foreign countries is Rs 2,000 each.

Ghorepani Ghandruk is one of the most famous trekking route in Nepal. It is mostly preferred by everyone because of its easy route and most varied landscape features. Apart from that, the locally managed eco teahouse lodges along the way also adds to its convenience. This trek is ideally suited for people who want to catch a glimpse of snow capped mountain peaks with full Himalayan cultural experience within a limited amount of time.

Ideal Itinerary for Ghorepani Ghandruk Trek

**Day 01:**Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara(6 hours approximately)

**Day 03:**Drive from Pokhara to Naya Pul and trek to Tikhe Dhungha (1540m)

**Day 04:**Trek from Tikhe Dhungha to Ghorepani(2750 m)

**Day 05:**Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2590 m) via Poon Hill (3210m)

**Day 06:**Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940m.)

**Day 07:**Trek from Ghandruk to Pothana (1900m)

**Day 08:**Trek from Pothana to Dhampus (1650m)- Phedi (1130m)- Pokhara

**Day 09 :**Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
