With an intent to promote internal and external tourism, a total of 80 Nepali have reached Manang. This, by far is the largest group of Nepali tourists Manang has ever witnessed. The big event is organized by M&S Events and is named “Imagine Nepal – an offroad Journey”.
“If Nepal were to widen its target group by focusing on more segments of tourists that could visit Nepal, the tourism industry, a 19 percent contributor to our GDP, would definitely boom. Imagine Nepal is, therefore that platform which, like the Color Republic, aims to revolutionise an entire industry,” states a press note issued by the organisers.
The riders started their journey on Friday, November 18. Monaic Karki, CEO of the event says,”People have greeted us very warmly and are happy to see such a large number of domestic tourists.” This is the first edition of the event. The first edition of the event has seen a total of 22 four wheelers and 4 offroad bikes. The 6 day long event ended today on November 23, Wednesday.
The travellers participated in a variety of activities such as Camping in Timang; ATV rides, horse-riding and golf in Manang. Other events included, a chess competition, a poker championship, a photo competition and a Zenga challenge.
According to the organisers, this year’s edition focused on promoting ‘internal tourism’. The next iteration of the event will explore the rugged terrains leading to such destinations as the Rara Lake, Lo Manthang, and Khaptad.
