Kalinchowk Diaries – Photo Story

Kalinchowk, residing at a height of 3700m, is an ideal destination for short trek in Nepal. It lies in the eastern part of the country and is renowned for its immense natural beauty. It is also one of the quickest access to the elevation of 3790m from Kathmandu via land transport as well as a popular trekking destination. Kalinchowk trekking belongs to the Rolwaling trekking region and offers spectacular panoramic views of Mount Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Lamjung, Jugal Himal, Shisha Panga, Gauri Shankar, etc.

Getting There

Local buses are available from Old BusPark in Kathmandu. The buses leave early in the morning. Apart from the local buses, many private companies or tour also provide packages for Kalinchowk temple.

Distance

Charikot, Headquarter of Dolkha, is about 132 kilometers from Kathmandu, and Kalinchowk is about 18 kilometers from Charikot. Local vechiles are not available but can be reserved to reach Kuri from where Kalinchowk temple is about 1 hour hike for regular hikers and can take maximum of 2 hours for others.

The hike from Charikot to Kalinchowk will take about 7-8 hours.

Where to stay?

Staying overnight at Charikot would be a convenient option. Then, you can head towards kuri and then eventually towards Kalinchowk the next day. You can even make it up to Kuri on the same day itself. Kuri is a small village with settlement of lodges to accommodate the tourist, which is situated right below the Kalinchowk hill. Your destination is just an hour hike from Kuri.

Charikot has good ranges of places to stay.  However, the number of places to stay are limited in Kuri.
