Land of pure happiness and unbounded resiliency

Jennifer Thompson from Montana, U.S.A. recently concluded her third trip to Nepal where she traveled to remote villages to help rebuild homes and volunteer with non-profit groups reports Helenair.com.

Thompson, an artist based in Helana, was trekking in Marsyangdi Canyon in Nepal when the earthquake hit; when a group organized a rebuilding trip to the Himalayan country in the fall, she could not resist.

Despite the scarcities and hardships, people of Nepal are joyous, resilient, incredibly hopeful and generous shared Thompson. Nepalese have a sense of community and are eager to share what little they have, she further added.

“We need their pure happiness. They can be happy in the craziest situation.”

During her fall trip she helped rebuild houses in Singla, visited and donated money to an NGO working with burn-violence survivors and another NGO working with HIV positive women and children. The artist shares she felt immensely inspired by these interactions: the gratitude and generosity of spirit of the Nepalese people has prompted her to return to Nepal again and again.

“How can I bring that back here? They just have this unbounded resiliency,” she added.

Thompson is hoping to return to Nepal for a repeat of her April trek.
