The month long Madhav Narayan Festival and Swasthani Brata Katha has begun with religious processions at Hanumante River, Hanuman ghat in Bhaktapur from Sunday.
Madhav Narayan Festival and Swasthani Brata Katha is a month long festival dedicated to God Madhav Narayan and Goddess Swasthani. Devotees recreate and recite folk tales about the miraculous feats performed by the Gods. Hindu women observe a fast and adhere to strict rules for the entire month to pray to Goddess Swasthani for the longevity of their husband’s life and family prosperity.
