Manaslu Trek Route to reopen in October before Dashain

The famous and much loved Manaslu trek route in Gorkha, which was closed due to the massive earthquake last year, will now be reopened.

The District Development Committee (DDC) has dispatched a technical team with District Technical Office engineer, Lal Bahadur Gurung, and members of the Political Consultation Committee to reopen the route from Seti area of Thumi to Sardibas VDC before the beginning of the Bada Dashain festival.

“We have allocated Rs 5 million for reopening the trek route,” DDC Planning and Administrative Official, Satish Kumar Bhattarai said, adding “We will use local manual workers to open the trek route soon.”

The Manaslu Trekking region offers an opportunity to experience a reasonably less crowded tourism destination of Nepal. The trekking region was opened for trekkers since 1991 and it offers spectacular beauty along the border of Nepal and Tibet. Gorkha is the official starting point for Manaslu treks which goes up to Buri Gandaki Valley.

The majestic mountain ranges in the Manaslu Region consists of cultural diversities and scenic beauty with high altitude romantic glacier lakes, tropical villages and enchanting flora and fauna. This region is extremely rich in bio- diversity.
