Mustang: World class mountain biking

By Supriya Rai ·

Berne Broudy of www.authenticoutdoors.com was in Nepal to celebrate Yeti Bicycles’ 30th Anniversary.  She joined a team of 24 riders from around the world to explore the ancient kingdom of Mustang Valley on a mountain bike.

The rugged, stark and isolated landscape of Mustang is crowned by shimmering glacier-capped peaks, with the rambling Kali Gandaki River coursing through the valley. The riders reportedly fell in love with the unexpected world-class trails, high-speed singletracks, technical switchbacks, steep descents down would-be dead-ends and ever-changing landscapes.

The group admit that they had not expected the riding to be so good. Mountain bike trips to Nepal are low on the radar of international riders and this trip they quip has opened their eyes to the beauty of this Himalayan nation. Every participating rider ranked this trip among the 10 best riding trips they had ever been on. And the group were most impressed by the expertise and enthusiasm of the local riders who worked as their guides during the trip.

Broudy urges more travelers to return to Nepal and states that the best way to help the country recover is by visiting.
