Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Receives Nat Geo Award

Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita has received the National Geographic 2016 People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year award in Washington DC. She was declared as the National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year 2016 earlier on February. She was born and raised in Khumjung village in Solukhumbu. Sherpa always had an inclination towards trekking and mountaineering, which eventually developed interest in her to travel and explore new places. In an interview with National Geographic, she told that she is currently working on a foundation to provide opportunities to attain education to women and girls.
