Nepal NOW

In order to provide visitors with a first-hand point-of-view of Kathmandu as it stands now, the #nepalnow Youtube page has uploaded a series of GoPro videos shot on motorbikes and bicycles. These videos, which include the routes Lazimpat-Swayambhu, Kathmandu Durbar Square-Ason-Thamel, Sanepa-New Road-Durbar Square, and Thamel-Lazimpat, make for easy viewing and provide a local sense of things as they stand on the ground. Tellingly, there is no visible damage, no rubble and no sign of the earthquake that struck last spring. The videos go far in showing just how normal life in Kathmandu has become and serve to illustrate to the potential visitor—Kathmandu is open and Kathmandu welcomes you. Click here to Subscribe
