Revenue up with increasing number of tourists visiting the Kathmandu Durbar Square

The number of of tourists visiting Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square doubled in first half of current fiscal year in comparison to the number of tourist visiting the heritage site last year. According to the data from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office 76 thousand 7 hundred and 84 tourists visited the heritage site in first six month of current fiscal year.

Amongst the visitors 6 thousand 6 hundred and 30 are citizens from SAARC Countries and 70 thousand 1 hundred 54 are from other countries. In previous year’s first half 37 thousand 2 hundred and 23 tourists visited Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, the data from the KMC shows.

With the rise in the number of tourists KMC has collected more than 71 million rupees as revenue from the visitors. KMC who has taken the charge of the area has fixed the price of ticket for SAARC countries to NRs. 150 and NRs. 1000 from other countries.

Kathmandu Durbar Square also popularly known as Hanuman Dhoka Square is one of the major attractions of Kathmandu Valley. It is also enlisted as a UNESCO world heritage site. The history of Kathmandu Dubar Square dates back to 1672 A.D when Kathmandu was ruled by Malla kings.
