Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has stepped up to address the issues faced by tourists in Nepal due to the short-notice lockdown imposed by the Nepal Government to contain the global pandemic of COVID-19, through its Crisis Communication Unit. NTB is doing its best to address the issues of the stranded tourists in Nepa snd has been successful to rescue people from Jomsom, Lukla and Pokhara and other areas of Nepal. Tourists have been evacuated and kept in self-isolation in different hotels in Kathmandu.
The rescue process is ongoing and other rescue missions are also underway to facilitate stranded tourists.
Understanding the gravity of this difficult time, there have assurances that the Crisis Unit is leaving no stone unturned to help and support stranded tourists.
Please take the COVID-19 threat very seriously!
Carelessness can spread the virus in a country with limited medical resources and health mechanisms.
More cases of coronavirus contraction could lead to exhausting the supply of medical resources.
The Government has declared lockdown, considered one of the best moves possible to break the chain and contain the spread, in order to flatten the curve and give Nepal a fighting chance to beat this threat.
Tourists are requested to do their part to contain the infection:
• Do not gather in groups as the chance of virus contraction is higher in mass.
• Please stay indoors.
• If you have any symptoms of fever, cough, cold, shortness of breath – immediately call the toll free hotline number – 1115. Do not move anywhere before calling this number.
• Avoid contact with people.
• Wash hands several times a day.
• Please contact your Embassy as soon as you arrive in Kathmandu, as they are working on sending you back to your homeland.
