Vote Here For Mira Rai For National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Award

Ultra-runner Mira Rai has been nominated for the National Geographic People’s Choice “Adventurers of the Year” Award. She is among ten other adventurers nominated for National Geographic’s annual list that selects adventurers for their extraordinary achievement in exploration, adventure sports, conservation, or humanitarianism.

Rai, a former maoist fighter, is the only nominee from the South Asian region. Posting Rai’s photograph training in Chamonix before winning the Mont-Blanc 80 km race in France, National Geographic has written: “High-elevation racing phenom Mira Rai is on a mission to help the women of Nepal through sports.”

Online voting for the 2017 People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year is now open and will run through Dec. 16, 2016. You can go here to vote her every day. The voting started on 3rd of November and currently, she is leading with about 50% of the votes! The adventurer with the most votes will be declared the winner and the final result will be announced in January as the 2017 People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year. Famous Nepali Mountaineer, Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita, had bagged the title last year.
