“To myself, mountains are the beginning and the end of all natural scenery. In them…my affections are wholly bound up.” – John Ruskin, Modern Painters(1850)
“The mountains are fountains of men as well as of rivers, of glaciers, of fertile soil. The great poets, philosophers, prophets, able men whose thought and deeds have moved the world, have come down from the mountains.”-John Muir
Have you ever come across someone who doesn’t like mountains? Aren’t we all absolutely fascinated by mountains? Mountains are the most majestic feature bestowed upon us by the earth.
Mountains: a large natural elevation of the earth’s surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level; a large steep hill. A big lump made of rock and ice. Despite of being so massive, they have the ability to soothe you in ways nothing else can. As for why they are so inspiring? The answer is that they are utterly massive and they never appear the same twice, alike fire or waterfall. They have the capability to completely change your perspective about the world. When you are on the top looking down below and across the horizon, you suddenly become a tiny insignificance yet feel so powerful.
So, what exactly is it about the mountains that you love so much? Is it because they aspire you or give a you a sense of freedom or because of your desire to peer from the top? The reasons may vary and they are all welcome. This video makes you ponder upon the big question.
